Meet Andrew Michael Mullane
Andrew Michael Mullane is a Denver native whose lifelong love for guitars and craftsmanship has shaped a unique journey in music and woodworking. Growing up near South Broadway, Andrew was deeply influenced by the artistry and community of Edward’s shop, which played a pivotal role in inspiring his passion for luthiery. As a first-generation Coloradan with Italian and Irish heritage, Andrew draws on a rich cultural background that values dedication, creativity, and craftsmanship.
Andrew’s relationship with music began at the age of six when his uncle, Dr. John Melillo, introduced him to the guitar. This spark of interest quickly turned into a lifelong pursuit, with Andrew learning from skilled teachers, attending music schools, and immersing himself in the discipline of musicianship. By the age of 12, he discovered Django Reinhardt, the legendary guitarist whose gypsy jazz style captivated Andrew and shaped his dedication to improvisation, composition, and the deeper theoretical aspects of music.
In 2016, Andrew’s journey into guitar repair and building began when he apprenticed under the renowned Edward Victor Dick at Victor Guitar. Over the next four years, Andrew mastered the art of historical restoration, specializing in unique movements of instrument-making history, such as turn-of-the-century Italian and American guitars, Franco Sicilian designs, and harp guitars. His work has earned him a reputation for excellence in restoring intricate and vintage instruments with precision and care.
Today, Andrew continues his work at Victor Guitar while leading Colorado Guitar Repair, where he brings his passion for guitars to a broader audience. Colorado Guitar Repair represents Andrew’s dedication to providing exceptional repair and restoration services tailored to the needs of musicians across Colorado. His ability to balance two roles allows him to offer the same meticulous craftsmanship and personalized attention to every project, from simple repairs to complex custom builds.
Outside of the shop, Andrew finds inspiration in his personal pursuits, including skateboarding, playing hockey, and spending time with family and friends. These passions reflect the same balance and creativity he brings to his work, ensuring that each guitar he touches not only meets but exceeds the expectations of its owner. Whether restoring a vintage treasure or crafting a custom guitar, Andrew’s mission remains the same: to bring every instrument back to life with artistry, precision, and heart.
